At Lastlight’s Dawn Room, the night does not simply give way to morning. It thins, warms and changes its mind, turning the act of leaving into the room’s central artwork. A scroll-led dissolve carries visitors through that transition, where motion, light and language work together to make an ending feel gradual rather than final.

The experience draws on a familiar threshold: the hour when the sky is changing but the day has not yet fully arrived. That in-between quality shapes both the visual direction and the mechanics. As readers move, the scene shifts with them, inviting attention to the small decisions behind a convincing dawn: what fades first, what lingers, and how much control the visitor should feel.
For artists and makers, the project offers a close look at how a digital space can borrow the patience of a physical one. Its atmosphere depends not on a single dramatic reveal, but on carefully paced changes that let perception catch up with the screen.
The full case study follows the art direction and interaction choices that shaped the dissolve—and explains why one element had to remain visible after everything else began to disappear.
